There are two common reasons why there's no connection yet:
Reason 1: The eSIM isn't activated
Often it's because the eSIM hasn't been activated yet, or another SIM is still selected for mobile data. Here's how to check:
iOS devices
- Go to Settings > Mobile Data and tap Mobile Data.
- Tap the eSIM you want to activate and make sure Turn On This Line is enabled.
- Turn on Data Roaming. Your eSIM should now be connected and you can get online abroad.
Android devices
- Go to Settings and tap SIM cards & mobile networks.
- Scroll down to the Manage eSIM option.
- Make sure the eSIM you want is activated, and turn on Data Roaming.
Reason 2: The APN is missing
All eSIMs have an automatic Access Point Name (APN), so manual setup usually isn't needed. In rare cases, no APN profile is stored. Here's how to set it up:
iOS:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Mobile Data.
- Under Mobile Data Plans, select your eSIM.
- Tap Mobile Data Network.
- In the APN field under Mobile Data, enter data.esim.
Android:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Network & Internet.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Select Access Point Names (APN).
- Enter data.esim as the new APN setting.
Note: in both cases, you can leave the other fields blank.
